We are only a few weeks away from the start of another summer at the Stettler Public Library, and it will be a summer of mythical proportions. The 2022 Stettler Summer Reading Program will be legendary, not just because of all the fun we will have, but because of its theme: Myths and Legends! The legendary Megan and Reagan are back, and they are accompanied by the mythical Jaden.
The Summer Reading Program will be running from Monday, July 4 to Friday, August 26th, and has something for everyone between the ages of 5 to 18, plus some family events that the parents can join. Dragons ages 5-8 are invited to drop in on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 12 noon, with Sea Serpents ages 9 and up joining us from 2:30 pm to 4 pm. We don’t expect actual dragons and sea serpents to join us, but everyone is invited to be one or the other. These times are chock-full of crafts, games, and stories. In other words, tonnes of fun!
Our weekly trips to Rochon Sands are back on Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Meet us out at the Rochon Sands Hall for an hour and a half of crafts, games and stories. We will follow this by spending time in our garden at the Stettler Rec Centre during Gardening Club from 3 pm to 4 pm. Both of these weekly activities are for all ages.
Thursdays are our days to create wonderful things at the Stettler Public Library. Crafty Thursdays are open to all ages and runs from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Then the Cooking Club is back and in person for all ages from 3 pm to 4:30 pm. Unlikely other Summer Reading Program offerings, you must pre-register for the Cooking Club so we can have the right amount of ingredients.
Everyone is welcome to enjoy Family Event Fridays. There is no set time for the Family Events; check our website at spl.prl.ab.ca, our Facebook page (@StettlerPublicLibrary), or the Summer Reading Program’s Facebook page (@SPLSummerReading) for more information on times.
Don’t forget the prizes because they are legendary too! How can you get in on the prizes? You have to read to earn Magic Beans that will earn you entries in the prize draws. You will need 4 Magic Beans for one entry, so get reading!
