Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

I was born in Innisfail, AB and grew up at Bowden.

Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?

I feel we were guided here. Early in our marriage, while Lisa and I were living in Edmonton, we happened to drive through Stettler on our way home from visiting family in southern Alberta. We didn't even stop, and didn't turn on to any side streets, but Lisa and I both had the impression that this town was something special. We turned to each other in the car and both verbalized that "This would be a nice place to live". Fast forward four years, and I was finishing up Chiropractic College in Toronto, trying to decide where to go to start up a practice. It was then that I remembered I knew someone who lived in Stettler whose father had been a chiropractor here. I phoned him up and asked more about the community. So after graduation, we moved to Stettler and I opened up my own brand new clinic here on main street. We have been here ever since, and that was almost 19 years ago.

What do you do? What is your full title?

I'm a full-time Chiropractor. I'm also on Town Council, and I am the President of the Stettler Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Education?

Doctor of Chiropractic, Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College - Toronto, Ontario. Three years of sciences at the University of Alberta. I've dabbled in many things including painting, video and audio editing, piano playing, public speaking, woodworking and graphic design.

Family?

I've been married to my wife Lisa for 24 years. We have 5 daughters aged 22, 20, 18, 13 and 12.

Who inspired you in your youth? My father. He is a hard worker - a jack of all trades and taught me the foundations of so many things. He is an exceptional husband to my mother and I aspire to have a successful marriage and family like he has.

Do you have any hobbies?

I love woodworking and DIY projects, and am not afraid to tackle almost any home improvement job. I'm also very passionate about community theatre and have been involved in every Heartland Arts Troupe Society production since 2012. I have acted in four (soon to be five) of their plays and directed three others.

What are your plans for the future?

My main goal right now is to finish raising my daughters and help them to become productive citizens. As of this September my oldest three are all on a path of higher education and service, while my younger two have several years left in public school.

Anything else you would like to add about being a member of the community in Stettler County?

This town is an awesome place to live. Being on Town Council has given me a real appreciation for what a wonderful community this is, and how unique we are in so many ways. Sometimes we don't appreciate the greatness and beauty that we have in our own back yards, but it is there!
