Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
I was born in Calgary and grew up in Red Deer.
Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?
I chose to live in Stettler because I was offered a part-time position as priest at St. George's Anglican Church.
What do you do? What is your full title?
Half-time incumbent of St. Georges Anglican Church until March 1st, 2023.
Education?
Graduated high school from Lindsay Thurber High in Red Deer, then took two years' training at a college in Toronto to be an Anglican Church Army officer. It was a non-degree program but it had classes in religion, biblical studies, pastoral skills, church history, and evangelism.
I became Chaplain at Docks in Montreal, meeting new Canadians immigrating to Canada. I was also Chaplain at Rimbey Hospital, Priest in St. Vincent (West Indies), and a mentor for a four-year program called Education of Ministry.
Family?
Married for 28 years to Donna, separated for 30 years.
Three children: Philip in Winnipeg, Jennifer in Regina, and Jon in B.C.
I have three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Who inspired you in your youth? My Sunday School teacher who was an RCMP officer, my parents, and several clergy at St. Luke's in Red Deer, the church where I grew up.
Who inspires you now?
The people I meet in my book clubs, my congregation, and the community.
Do you have any hobbies?
Reading and swimming.
What are your plans for the future?
Retirement and helping out when I can with church services when asked.
