Where are you from? Where did you grow up?
I was born in Wainwright. As a kid we moved around a fair bit. Have lived in Wainwright, Consort, Valleyview, Camrose and finally Stettler. I moved to Stettler in high school and have been in the area ever since.
Why do you (did you) choose Stettler as home?
I remain in Stettler for multiple reasons. I am definitely not cut out to live in the City; although I do like that those amenities seem reachable from here. Both my family and I have developed close connections in the area. In several instances I have been in awe at how this community comes together to support each other.
What do you do? What is your full title?
I am a construction superintendent. I oversee construction, scheduling, cost control, safety and QC. My work has taken me into the oilfield, civil, industrial, power generation/distribution and water/sewer.
Family?
I am happily married to an exceptionally passionate and understanding wife. We have two boys that are currently attending Stettler Elementary.
Education?
I am a red seal steamfitter/pipefitter.
Who inspired you in your youth? In my youth I was inspired by my grandfather. He has an ability to be brutally honest while at the same time disarming any tension with his sense of humour. His work ethic was second to none.
Who inspires you now?
As strange as it sounds my kids inspire me. The compassion they show to others only further motivates me. Recently I have witnessed them attempt to make positive changes in helping initiate expanding the school playground. Then the oldest out of the blue, deciding that he wants to grow his hair out to donate to wigs for cancer. When you see that from a nine year old it is equal part inspiring and shame, knowing that you could do much more to improve the community.
Do you have any hobbies?
My hobbies have primarily become "family hobbies". We love the outdoors and spend time snowboarding, boating as well as multiple sports
