“When kids have access to sport they improve in school, become stronger leaders, create safer communities, ignite inclusivity and fuel healthy habits for life.” —KidSport Alberta
Stettler KidSport has been activt in Stettler since 2003 and, during those 20+ years, the organization has helped about 4,200 kids.
KidSport is run by volunteer board members ensure all funds raised or donated are put back into the local area. This allows families with financial barriers – including families on AISH or who are unemployed – to enrol their children in the sports they love.
Stettler offers a lot of sporting activities for kids 18 and under, and a wide range of these sports are eligible for KidSport funding.
Local organized sports include hockey, skating, taekwon-do, dance, gymnastics, swimming, equestrian, curling, and school sports, including basketball, volleyball and archery. Kidsport also sponsors public swimming and skating.
KidSport Stettler can provide up to $750 per eligible child, per calendar year, towards sport registration fees.
How does it work?
Once you've registered your child in a sports program, you can apply for a grant either ONLINE or download a paper application HERE. Paper applications may also be available at the Stettler Rec Center.
Let the sports organization know you are requesting funding from KidSport, and be sure to complete all sections of the application. Paper applications can be submitted by mail, email or dropped off at the Rec Centre.
Applications are reviewed by KidSport within 30 days. Cheques for approved applications are mailed to the sport club directly within two weeks of the review date or once program starts. At that time you'll receive an email confirming your application result.
If you wish to donate to KidSport Stettler, you can become a yearly sponsor, or you send an e-transfer to Stettler@kidsport.ab.ca.
