The Gendre Farm Christmas lights display is a local tradition that has been going on for nearly a decade. Cammy Gendre explains that her dad was always big on Christmas decorating. She says they’ve always loved Christmas as a family and enjoy sharing that with the community. The family has continued Cammy’s father’s tradition of volunteering and generosity, hosting a massive light display each year. It is so huge, it takes nearly three months and many man-hours to set up. Cammy says that their adult kids come home for the extra help needed each year, making it a family event.
The display is available to view starting the first weekend in December and on select dates until December 23. Cammy and her husband Louis provide treat bags for all of the kids who visit as their Christmas gifts to each other.
The family accepts cash donations from visitors to sponsor six local families this Christmas season. They will provide each family with a Christmas meal, gift cards, and personal gifts purchased from a list given by the sponsored family members. Cammy also does a lot of baking and sells baking trays at the light show, with the profits also going towards the sponsored families.
If you are looking for something to do this holiday season, take a trip out to Gendre Farm and visit their light display. Not only will your family have a great time, but your donation will also help another local family have a great Christmas too!
