“The Clearview Star Award is a community that recognizes outstanding contributions and achievements in community life and provide an opportunity to honour Clearview's exceptional citizens.   We welcome Cindy to our Clearview Community as she begins her teaching career at WEH SSC”. - Brenda MacDonald

“I want to thank the Clearview Board of Trustees for choosing me as this year’s recipient of the Clearview Star Award. While I am very grateful to have been selected to receive this recognition, I must admit that I believe that it is all of the excellent staff that provided me with guidance during my time at the schools that are the real stars! I genuinely appreciated the time they invested in assisting me on my learning journey and the wonderful opportunities that I was provided with, which allowed me to learn along with some of the amazing students at Clearview Public Schools. I now look forward to continuing my journey as a new teacher and assisting students in acquiring the necessary skills to flourish in life. I wish it would have been possible to thank you in person, but do appreciate the need to put the health and safety of everyone concerned first. Therefore, I hope you will accept my sincere note of thanks and appreciation for the award, and the fantastic learning opportunities that Clearview Public Schools have provided me while I have been working toward my degree.”  - Cindy Zimmerman

A former Wm E Hay Graduate, Cindy has gone on to pursue her own seamstress business in the community of Stettler.  She also raised her two sons in Clearview Public Schools and was an active and supportive parent. Recently, Cindy went back to further her education in an online teacher training program, allowing her to stay in the Stettler community.  Cindy has also gone with Teachers Across Borders to share her talents for a semester in Vietnam.

Cindy has been a volunteer at Stettler Elementary School, supporting emergent readers in younger grades with reading.  She was a member of the Alberta Reads reading team at the school.  Ms. Zimmermann also did a practicum at SES, and went above and beyond dedicating extra hours to the school. As well, she took on the ambitious project of having students design and sew a quilt which was presented to an immigrant family in Stettler.  Following her practicum, Cindy stayed on as a weekly volunteer to complete a structured literacy program with students she had seen during her practicum, demonstrating her commitment to the well being and success of Clearview students.  Cindy has also volunteered her time with Junior Achievement sharing the expertise she learned as a successful business person.

Congratulations to Clearview’s 2020 Star Award recipient!
