Town of Stettler Music in the Park Series
Music in the Park is back for 2024 with many exciting new musicians as well as a few returns! Bring a lawn chair and join us every Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the West Stettler Park bandstand for exceptional live entertainment.
June 26- Jazz Guys
Made up of a group of local friends and neighbours who have a passion for music. You see them playing throughout the community at different events. We love having them kick off our summer!
July 1- The Boss Hill Band
The Boss Hill Band is excited to be back playing again after a year on a hiatus. A combination of musical talent from three Central Alberta Bands (Loose Change, The Tradesmen and Nigel Vile) performs a wide variety of songs from over seven decades of pop, rock, rockabilly, and country. Wayne Carstairs’ provides the drive with his iconic electric lead guitar solos. Jeff Lee and Jeff Simon’s crisp melodic vocals cut through the night while James Muhlbach’s drums and Eric Rahn’s keys supply the dancing beat. The Boss Hill Band loves to perform and share a night of good tunes and good times and West Stettler Park is one of their favourite venues to play as each year they join Stettler audiences for Wednesday’s Music in the Park or the Town’s larger Canada Day Celebration.
July 3- Jenny Allen
"Sensual, frank and fearless," said Calgary Fast Forward Magazine about performing songwriter Jenny Allen. Her first solo recording, 'Something to Say', produced by Canadian folk legend Valdy, led to invitations at major festivals both in Canada and the US. and widespread critical acclaim. Opening for the likes of Taj Mahal, Jennifer Warnes, and Shawn Colvin, her music invited comparisons to Mary Chapin Carpenter and Tracy Chapman, swinging effortlessly between a rich variety of styles such as roots, blues, pop, and rock.
July 10- Lewis Frere
Lewis grew up in Trochu, Alberta and played in a family band for years. He has been fronting bands for the past ten years; Alias Jones, Rave On, and The Rosebud Rivervalley Boys being the most recent. He has performed on television and is a gifted composer and arranger, and one heck of a defenceman. When Lewis is not out performing or playing hockey, he is the sound engineer at Rosebud Creek Records.
July 17- Matt Beatty
Matt Beatty was born in Calgary and has been performing professionally for the last 20 years. Over that time, Matt has developed into one of the country's most diverse artists. Matt is a talented vocalist who plays great guitar, but also performs as a drummer and a bassist. His song selection, aside from his originals, encompasses Rock, Pop, Blues, Country, Rockabilly, Jazz, and anything else not nailed down.
July 24- Steve Jevne
Steve Jevne is a high energy country singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based out of Calgary, Alberta. After more than 100 performances in 2023, including a western Canadian tour, Steve has a slew of upcoming releases that he will be touring extensively for in 2024, including his upcoming single 'Mr. Bartender'.
July 31- Jim Baxter
Much to their chagrin, my parents had little influence on my musical tastes when I was a teen, EXCEPT for Chet Atkins. Now hearing Chet takes me back to that BSR record changer I abused in the 70s.
August 7- Erin Ross
Hailing from Calgary, Erin Ross is an accomplished musician who transcends any one genre. Her soulful original compositions blend masterful guitar work, sultry vocals and showcase her skill as a multi instrumentalist. Rooted in blues, rock, country and jazz, Erin offers something for every crowd.
August 14- Jamie Allanach
A passionate, energetic and enjoyable performer with a unique slant on an eclectic mix of music. Jamie has an ever expanding repertoire reaching as far back as the 1930’s, including genres such as rock, pop, folk, reggae, indie, R&B, soul, blues, and country.
August 21- Harry Hewson
Hailing from Delia, Alberta, and now retired in Stettler, Harry enjoys playing guitar and singing. He began playing in the '60's and therefore pays homage to the great 60's and 70's era of classic rock, folk, and country music. Rooted in his favourite artists such as Buddy Holly, Elvis, The Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Gary Felgard, Don Williams, Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Merle Haggard to name a few. Harry offers easy listening for every age and every crowd.
August 28- Earl Morgan
Since 2016, Earl Morgan have been the soundtrack to many unforgettable nights around western Canada. An acoustic duo consisting of Colton Earl Palaschak and Tyler Morgan Gates, their repertoire consists of songs from artists ranging from Tragically Hip, Tom Petty, Blue Rodeo, Steve Earle, Barenaked Ladies, and Bruce Springsteen. Come out for a night of harmonies, acoustic guitars, mandolins, and harmonicas!
